Wilmington International is a single-terminal airport that has grown quickly. The airport reported a record of about 1.8 million passengers in 2025, up from roughly 1.09 million in 2022. A $69 million terminal expansion finished in September 2023 and added gate space, a bigger ticket lobby, an outbound bag room and screening equipment, restrooms and concessions.
The airport is now building the next phase. A new multi-level parking garage, a rebuilt terminal curb and a tunnel to the terminal are under construction, with the garage targeted to open before Thanksgiving 2026 and the full project in 2027. Another terminal expansion (up to four more gates) is planned later, so check the airport website for the latest schedule.
Main airlines: American, Avelo, Breeze, Delta, JetBlue, Sun Country and United. American flies to Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, Philadelphia, New York LaGuardia and Washington National year-round; Delta serves Atlanta and New York LaGuardia; United serves Newark; Breeze and Avelo serve Northeast, Florida and other cities. Several routes are seasonal.

There is one terminal, so no transfers between terminals are needed.
During construction, drop-off and pickup use the temporary curb front. The airport lists local taxi, limo and ride-sharing companies on its ground transportation page. A new commercial drop-off curb for taxis and rideshare is part of the curb project, expected in spring 2027.
Wave Transit serves ILM through RideMICRO, an on-demand shared ride service within zones in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties. Book through the RideMICRO app, the web portal or by phone. The fare is $2 per person one way, and rides can connect to Wave Transit fixed routes (bus fare is separate).
The airport says a new rental car lot is open; see the airport lot map for its location. A new rental car facility is also part of the capital plan.
People picking up passengers can wait in the cell phone lot, to the right off Airport Blvd., and then move to the curb once the traveler is ready. Unattended vehicles at the curb are ticketed or towed.

As of 2026 the airport lists $1 per hour with daily maximums of $24 (Lot A), $15 (Lot B), $12 (Lot C) and $9 (Shuttle Lot). The first 5 minutes are free in Lots A to C.
Wave Transit's RideMICRO service connects ILM with zones in the region for $2 one way. There is no rail service.
The airport has targeted fall 2026, before Thanksgiving, with the new curb front in spring 2027 and the tunnel and atrium by summer 2027. Dates can change.

The airport's amenity pages do not list a pay-in or airline lounge. Plan on the seating, charging stations and dining after security on Level 2.
No. For security reasons, unattended vehicles at the terminal curb are ticketed and may be towed. Use the parking lots or the cell phone lot instead.
