Asheville Regional Airport is a small airport that is in the middle of the AVL Forward terminal project. The new North Concourse and TSA checkpoint opened in 2025, the new rental car counters opened on May 20, 2026, and the project is expected to finish around the end of 2027 or early 2028.
AVL has no lounges, so passengers should plan on gate seating. The airport has free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal and a Guest Services Center in baggage claim.
Main airlines: Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Sun Country Airlines and United Airlines operate scheduled service from Asheville, with nonstop flights to major regional and national destinations.

The new North Concourse and TSA checkpoint opened in 2025. Arriving passengers deplane here, and a lactation suite is located post-security in the North Concourse.
The partial new baggage claim opened on April 17, 2026. The new rental car counters sit next to it, and the Guest Services Center is in baggage claim.
AVL is a small airport, so walks are short. Construction changes the walking paths from time to time, so follow the signs. Arriving passengers who need a rental car follow a marked outdoor pathway from the ticket lobby to the rental car counters next to the new baggage claim.
Complimentary shuttles run from the curb in front of the ticket lobby and in front of the baggage claim entrance. They go to the Standard and Shuttle lots and the ride app and taxi pickup area. You can track them in real time in the Passio GO! app.
Uber, Lyft and taxis use a designated lot just south of the new rental car center and baggage claim. It is about a four to six minute walk from the terminal, or you can take any parking shuttle from the curb.
Asheville Redefines Transit route South 3 runs daily between the airport and the Downtown ART Station, for a one-way fare of $1.00.
Hotel shuttles pick up across from the baggage claim entrance, on the other side of Terminal Drive near the parking garage. Confirm the pickup time with your hotel.
No. AVL has no commercial VIP lounges, airline club lounges or Priority Pass facilities, so plan to wait at your gate.
The ART route South 3 runs daily between the airport and the Downtown ART Station for $1.00. You can also use rideshare or a taxi from the lot south of the new rental car center.
