Domestic Terminal (North and South)
Ticketing, baggage claim, ground transportation and the main security checkpoints. North and South are two halves of the same building; your airline determines which end you use.
Atlanta, Georgia KATL #1 US airport by passengers
About 7 miles south of downtown Atlanta, inside the I-285 perimeter.
Hartsfield-Jackson is built for connections. Most of the traffic never leaves the building, which is why the layout is a single long spine: one Domestic Terminal on the landside, then a straight line of parallel concourses (T, A, B, C, D, E and F) reached by an underground train.
If you start or end your trip here, you spend almost no time outside. Check-in, the security checkpoints and baggage claim are in the Domestic Terminal; the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal sits to the east and has its own check-in, customs and arrivals hall.
Main airlines: Delta Air Lines runs its largest hub here and operates from most of the concourses. Southwest, Frontier, Spirit and a handful of international airlines fill in the rest.
The FAA is not reporting a ground stop, ground delay program or other delay at ATL right now.

International departures, customs and immigration for arriving international passengers. Concourse F connects to the rest of the airport by the Plane Train.
The Plane Train is a free automated train that runs under the concourses and connects the Domestic Terminal baggage claim area to every concourse. Trains arrive roughly every two minutes. Each concourse also has a walking tunnel with moving walkways, which is quicker than waiting if you are only going one or two stops.
The Red and Gold lines stop at Airport Station, attached to the Domestic Terminal near baggage claim. It is the cheapest and most reliable way to reach Midtown, Downtown and Buckhead, and it avoids interstate traffic.
A free automated people mover that links the Domestic Terminal with the ATL Rental Car Center and the Gateway Center. It is the way to reach rental cars.
Taxi, Uber and Lyft pick-ups are organized outside the Domestic Terminal; follow the ground transportation signs after baggage claim.
Several private shuttles and intercity coaches serve downtown hotels and nearby cities. Pre-book where possible, as walk-up availability varies.
Follow the signs for the International Terminal; the airport runs complimentary transport between the two. Check atl.com for the current route before you go, because terminal access changes during construction.
Yes. MARTA's Red and Gold lines serve Airport Station inside the Domestic Terminal and reach Downtown and Midtown directly.
Delta uses the Domestic Terminal for check-in and departs from most concourses, plus the International Terminal for international flights. Your boarding pass shows the concourse.
